Concept are a rapidly expanding chain of conference centres with venues around the Midlands and head quarters in central Birmingham. One of Concept’s core values is providing equal employment opportunities to the visually impaired, with many of their staff, including the chefs, having some form of visual impairment. As a result, they work closely with Action For Blind and the RNIB.
We’ve worked with Concept on their web presence from day one, developing their original website a couple of years back, and more recently giving it a total re-vamp, with a fully integrated content management and booking system. Delivering a site that was accessible to Concept’s target market was of key importance, with accessibility controls featured throughout the site, which allow the user to enlarge the font and switch to high contrast colour schemes should they require to.
On completing the site, we ran a training afternoon with the Concept management team, after which we “handed over the keys” to the site. The project has been well received by both staff and site visitors, with little features such as the “Odd Blog” and “Recipes” areas allowing the Concept team to inject some personality whilst also providing useful, ‘current’ information to their readers.
